I think with the makeup of our team, a player like Justin Patton (a stretch 5 if you will), is a perfect player. Someone who is able to stretch the floor on offense, and (HOPEFULLY!) protect the rim, at least causing players to change shots if not blocking them, on defense. The traditional 5 is going the way of the dinosaurs. This is partially because of the emphasis on guard play and shooting, but also (and a bit related) because of the way AAU basketball is dominating everything, and 5's needing to be able to step out and hit some shots if they are ever going to touch the ball in the games. At the very least, we need to look for someone to change shots on the defensive end and clean up the glass, and on the offensive end hit the glass hard. But, we really don't need, and potentially don't even want, a traditional center.

Savion Flagg was once linked to CU interest. He has made a cut to 8 schools and unsurprisingly CU is not on the list.

Does anyone have an updated overview of the top 2017 recruits we still have a shot at? Off the top of my head:

Christian David - CU made top 5
Jordan Goodwin - CU made top 7
Brian Bowen - He is trimming his list down soon, but I think CU might show up. Still will be a long shot.

If we don't land any of these 3, I think we should keep the scholarships for a grad transfer/Juco for next off-season and start putting together a big 2018 class.

http://www.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings Updated Top 100 Rankings from ESPN
Ty-Shon comes in at 64, which I believe is the highest he's been on ESPN. Mitch however fell to 99..strange.

Other guys we've had or still do(?) have interest in:
Hamidou Diallo and Nick Richards come in at 11 and 12. At one time we were in on both.
Brian Bowen- 13.
Makai Ashton-Langford(?)- 33
Kimani Lawrence- 54
Jericho Sims- 67
Christian David- 83

Didn't Bowen cut his list down or am I thinking of someone else? The Jays were on the list.

He cut it to 12, including Creighton.

Recruiting rank -ESPN.

Our guys dropped because they didn't sign with UNC or KU? Both had great spring and summer play. :?:
I find it difficult to believe the there are 63 recruits better than Ty-Shon and Mitch. The aim seems to be to knock the Jays from their lofty Top 10 recruiting class by removing the floor from our recruits.

Ty-Shon was 52nd yesterday, dropped to 64th in today's new rankings.
Mitch was 56th or 58th yesterday, dropped to 99th in today's new rankings.

Tugs dropped 3 spots, Richards dropped 4 spots. Tucker and Lawrence held fast.
David (100+ to 83) rose 20+ spots, Sims (139 to 67/4 rose approx 70+ spots.

Are we after Sims?
C'mon home Tugs!

I know we are recruiting him but David, who didn't even play at all this summer rises and Ballock who had a very good AAU drops 40 slots?

Its not uncommon for a player to move down ten or so spots, so Ty-shon's update didn't startle me too much.

Mitch seems more ready to contribute big right away than Ty-shon, so I thought him moving down was puzzling. Especially with all the national guys praising his abilities all summer on twitter. Doesn't really matter - we know what we're getting with both those guys.
