Maybe he wants to go away for school. A lot of people do...

Virginia might be tough to beat, too.

borderline elite school, turning into a perennial top 10 squad, ACC, plus tony bennett is a wisconsin guy who can probably really relate to a wisky kid...

sure hope we get a solid chance with him - he is a terrific player.

Yep.

Although, no guarantee that Bennett is at Virginia for long. All indications are that Bo Ryan is very near retirement, and Wisconsin will do everything they can to land Bennett as his replacement.

is there any sort of relationship between ryan and the bennetts?

bo might get to name his successor - or at least have a lot of input - and i can see where he might be against bringing tony in vs getting "his" guy

i can see where wisky fans would want tony - but short of wanting to go "home" - he might already have a better job

2016 Sam Hauser(@Big_Smooth10) will take officials to UVA, Marquette, and Creighton. Virginia is his first on Saturday.

That's a good question. I'm not sure. Dick Bennett left under pretty unique circumstances. He was on his way to legend status there after the 2000 Final Four run, and then abruptly retired due to exhaustion/burnout; he took the Washington State job after two or three years off. My sense is Wisconsin fans still give him a lot of credit for essentially building the Wisconsin program to something respectable (they were awful before he arrived in the mid 90s). Bo Ryan has obviously taken it to an entirely elite level. But Tony grew up in Wisconsin, played college hoops for Green Bay, and coached as an assistant at UW under his father. Given what Bo has been able to accomplish, I'd think that'd be a pretty tempting job for him.

Unless you're recruiting Marcus Foster (the first time, out of high school).

Fresh off his official to Virginia over the weekend, Stevens Point junior Sam Hauser (6-6) plans to take an official to Marquette soon.

Let's hope he makes it to Creighton for an official.
