Wonder if the staff has any interest here.

attyalum, I presume you mean Patton as in the General?

Could KT be a walk on possibility if he makes the grades? Does anyone know if Patton's AAU team will be playing this weekend at OSA? If not any idea where they are playing?

Nope, from Twitter:

RT @NebraskaHSHoops: 2014 Omaha Benson G Khyri Thomas has committed to attend Prep School at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Va
- See more at: http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/kh ... EKV3C.dpuf

He's reclassifying to 2015.

He's got major conference athleticism. If his game catches up even slightly this year he could be a solid acquisition for a relevant team

The Mr. Basketball award came from us at Nebraska High School Hoops, edging out Tre'Shawn Thurman (UNO commit and Central grad) 12 votes to 10, and Khyri got my vote. Mitch Hahn (Holy Cross commit and a very good player in his own right) won the Gatorade Player of the Year for Nebraska and was third in our voting with 3 votes.

As for Khyri, he was the best player in the state this year for me. Great athlete, very good size, tenacious defender with a nice pull-up jumper. He wouldn't have qualified, though, which is why he is going to the prep school. He averaged 19 and 7 this past year for Benson and was considered the best defender in the state by more than one player I've talked to. For me, he definitely has D-1 talent. It's simply a matter of him taking care of business in the class room.

As for the OSA tournament, yes, Justin Patton should be competing for the OSA National team. They're having a special showcase game this year between OSA and Nebraska Hoops Elite, another of the better teams in the state. That is at 1:20 p.m. on Friday. I'll be there all weekend.

I suppose the questions for us are (1) does he have Big East talent, and (2) would the staff ultimately want to use one of our 3 remaining scholarships for him. Could be way off, but my guess is that the coaches would like to add a PF and a PG to the 2015 class. That would leave 1 spot for a SG/SF/Wing, so if the coaches are interested in Thomas, he'd be in a group that currently appears to include Clarke, Milon, Wampler, Mitchell and a couple of others. He does seem to be someone who likes the Jays a lot and would probably jump at an offer much like Patton did.
