Ok, let me be specific - he did not have good games against athletic teams with good defense. Against Arizona - 0 points. Iowa st. - 0 points. Baylor -0 points one game, 3 points another game. Texas - 0 points one game, 2 points another game. Several other games with 0 points. I think this is definitely a reach and we should hold out for someone better. Coaches not making a good decision here if they end up signing him. He seems like a good guy, but don’t see the added value to what we have now.
Yeah, I’m going to trust the coaches over someone on the Internet, sorry.
And any additional, reliable shooting is added value to the core we have. And by the way, those lines are a) from last year when he played the least he ever had, b) what you expect for shooting specialists against good teams - good teams are well-coached, well-coached teams generally play good scouting report defense, and c) on a team that probably isn’t as good as getting shooters open looks as we do.
I see what Alphawalt is saying - coaches aren't always right, and Farabello takes some projection to see how he might fit in, but looking at the data and watching some of his play, I'm thinking it's possible this could be a great fit. One thing to remember was that Farabello was a PG in HS and is a good facilitator, and that fits really well in our system. We aren't looking to start him at PG, but as a 20 minute or more per game guy who facilitates and stretches the floor with his shooting, that's a great fit -- particularly when we aren't looking to bring Alexander or Nembhard off of the bench
Kansas State was a game when one of their starters, Miller was out, and Fababello stepped in. It's worth watching how he did

Checking out that KState game video, he looks like an off-ball Kolek type guard. Seems to have a decent passing ability (though the TO Rate is obviously concerning). I think what the coaches need to analyze is his defensive ability - that was the cornerstone of this past team, and we can't have a weak link that the opponents can exploit whenever they come in the game.
I think people are expecting us to add a bonafide star transfer to step in and play 30+ min for us, but honestly what we need is depth. Our guards will be smaller this next year, but I think Trey can slide to the 3 half the time. I'll take experience and shooting any day, and it seems like he's a more reliable guard than Rati, though I'm hoping Rati can develop even more over the offseason.

I think people have unrealistic expectations. Farabello is ranked 69 out of 1300+ transfers by Evan Miya. That’s pretty good. If you think we should land a top 25 guy who scores 15+ppg, realize how we look to them. We already have an established top 4 and are adding a top-75 redshirt. There are other schools with clearer openings.

Is there any other staff out there that knows what he's capable of, fit, etc than ours (TCU exception obvioulsly)?
I think it would be smart to wait to evaluate both individual players and roster construction until all the movement is complete.

I think the staff knows who's already who's out there or will be, and whether anybody from our roster is leaving. If FF is coming, then that says to me either (1) we like our current roster and are just looking for a veteran to plug in some minutes or (2) somebody else is leaving our roster and we're looking for another wing/guard/pg (like one of the big names out there) in addition to FF.
We should be able to "F this weekend" pretty soon, since the portal closes in a couple of weeks.

My hope is that Frankie is an end-of-rotation glue guy. Not because he’s not good or what the Jays need…but because Shtolzberg, Rati, Shereef, Christofilis, Mason Miller and “the other F” play so well that there aren’t any meaningful minutes for him. Each one of those players mentioned clearly (to me at least) have a much higher ceiling than Frankie. Aim high and if any falter, Frankie is there to step up a spot in the rotation.
Isn’t that the best case scenario?

Agreed. Anything more is a pipedream.
Kid shoots great percentages off of 3 attempts a game, on average. He's NOT a volume shooter, nor is he a 20+ mpg player.
Frankie is a spot player...at best. He can be a dependable, experienced sub, coming in to give others a breather. He Played 20 mpg last season...4.7 ppg, 2.5 rbd, 1.3 ast.
If they take him okay-we have no say in the matter anyways. But let's not attempt to make him into more than what his record shows.

For what it’s worth, there isn’t another F right now. Both F’s were referring to the same person

It’s a HUGE long shot and I’m not getting my hopes up, but Emoni Bates would legit be a perfect fit on this roster imo
