Per the TEDTalks Podcast, If you meet a 7ft+ tall man from the USA between 23-40 there is a ~20% chance he plays in the NBA.
So if Patton has a 20% change of playing in the NBA (assuming he reaches 7ft which it seems he will) thats worth rolling the dice.

An actual accounting of 7-footers, domestic or global, does not exist in any reliable form. National surveys by the Center for Disease Control list no head count or percentile at that height. (Only 5% of adult American males are 6’3″ or taller.)…
The curve shaped by the CDC’s available statistics, however, does allow one to estimate the number of American men between the ages of 20 and 40 who are 7 feet or taller: fewer than 70 in all. Which indicates, by further extrapolation, that while the probability of, say, an American between 6’6″ and 6’8″ being an NBA player today stands at a mere 0.07%, it’s a staggering 17% for someone 7 feet or taller.

"I got a chance to see some very good players from the region as well. The Omaha Sports Association (OSA) Crusaders won the 17U championship on Sunday. They defeated the St. Louis Eagles in the semifinals and Kansas City Run GMC in the championship game. The executed well on offense throughout the weekend. OSA had one of the top shooters in the tournament in 6’1″ guard Pierce Almond. They also had an electrifying guard in 6’0″ senior Malik Hluchoweckyl, who was a tremendous athlete in the open court. He had a few rim-rattling dunks and blocked shots on the final day. I was also impressed with 6’11″ Justin Patton, who is a Creighton commit. He is a very skilled big player who looks like his best basketball is well ahead of him."

Another note on Hluchoweckyl - states that he has inquiries from Miami (Ohio), clemson, Bowling Green and Wichita State among others.

I'm starting to think Hluchoweckyj may work himself into getting an offer from us, it all might depend on whether or not he commits to playing BBall instead of track and football. We reached out at about the same time as Wichita, so interest is heating up for him.

Recruiting discussions are always entertaining, but usually based on very little information. I'm glad to contribute to the lack of information!
