Comments on exhibition from last Saturday. The team only had 4 days of practice but did have practices before their trip.
Nora of course was awesome. Besides hitting from outside can also crush the ball from the 10 foot line.
Ava has a powerful arm as well. If she can serve receive consistently I could see her being a force from the 10 foot line as well. A freshman, Destiny has a good presence about her and athleticism. Kind of reminds me a little of Jaali Winters when I saw her first exhibition match. The 4th outside of note is the transfer Ellie Bichelmeyer. It seems like she was often hitting on the left side when I was watching but really a right side. So, not sure how good she is going to be.
Looking at the DS position/Libero. Ellie Bolton is a senior. Good leader. Sky McCune sophomore had some great plays last year but seemed to lack some consistency. Also have a freshman, Sydney Breissinger that seems like a real competitor. Seems to have a lot of quickness. From what I saw I would expect these three to get most action as a defensive specialist.
The depth at the setter position seems much improved. Kendra is as athletic as they come. She wins every joust. Really makes a lot of incredible plays all around. Emma Zegler and Audrey Clark both have great skills. If Kendra got injured we could run a 6-2 offense with them and do very well.
Have several choices for middle. There are 5 I think. Unambiguous only commenting on 3 as I didn’t get a good feel for the other two. Kiara has a big upside. I thought she was special as a freshman. Then had the injury. I thought she would be a bit more dominant. Maybe feeling better now? Kiana Schmidt is steady. Mostly gets kills on the slides. The third middle is Ann Marie Remmes. A little shorter than the other two but appears to be the hardest hitter.
Several of the girls seemed fitter as well. Not sure if from working out or changes in diet. Hopefully it will help.
