They closed the gap at the end of the 1H by playing inside out, and it was effective. Now they’re back to bombs away and, it’s just me, but I don’t think that’s an effective way to sustain an offense.

Still, UConn was +24 at half in that Omaha debacle, so we’re that many to the good. Not much consolation now, though.

I’ve noticed that throughout the season, the 3Q is the weakest quarter for the Creighton women. But not as bad as this. Looks like we just made ‘em mad. Also, the off. RB disparity is just plain grim.

73-53. UConn clinches top seed in BET and at least a share of regular season championship.

I don't think it's so much that the "bombs away" was a choice as UConn upped its defensive intensity and got Creighton completely out of sorts. They had a tough time creating any kind of decent look on offense. Hitting 3s was their only shot to hang around and they went 6-30. The athleticism gap is still significant.

Bueckers and Edwards ended up 16-33 combined from the field for 44 total points.

Creighton is a good, and consistent, team, yet nowhere near a 5-loss UConn team. Creighton ranked appropriately imo in the #20-25 poll range.

And the scary thing about that is that when UConn goes out of conference, they get cuffed around. Five double-digit losses. Yet, Creighton is clearly the second-best team in the BE and we can't lay a glove on 'em. It's no surprise to anybody that the BE is awful, but our overall ceiling must be very low. We're maybe even more dependent on matchups and a little bit of luck in the NCAAT than a lot of teams. I hope for the sake of all our seniors that they get to enjoy a nice little run, like they did two years ago.

To be fair, UConn has had 5 season ending injuries since July. All but one of their losses (excluding the loss to #6 NC St) have been since Fudd's ACL injury in November. They've had 3 more season ending injuries since then including 2 in January. They still have plenty of talent to go around but I dont think it is that surprising they have had some ugly losses either. I think they'll still compete well in March and I hope Creighton does too.

Which does nothing at all to make it feel any better that Creighton never looks like they even belong on the same court by the time the game is over. Love Flan, love that team -- just so frustrating that they can't even be competitive against UConn for a full game, ever.

Let's hope Edwards goes pro since she has been so completely dominant against Creighton. I thought they had found a way to contain her today and then the 2nd half happened and they couldn't pack the paint the same way anymore. Bueckers is coming back for sure though.
